Abir Gulaal marks the much-awaited comeback of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan to Bollywood. And fans have been waiting for every single update on the film. Meanwhile, Bollywood stars and Indian celebrities continue to condemn heartbreaking terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam area. Amid the recent brutal killings, cinegoers and FWICE have called for the film’s boycott. The film is scheduled for May 9 release. For the unversed, in reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack, FWICE has imposed a ban on Pakistani artistes. It is also firm about not releasing Abir Gulaal in India. Amid massive criticism, Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor have spoken their hearts out on the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam. The Pakistani actor took to Instagram Stories to express his thoughts. “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time,” he posted. Vaani also took to her Instagram Stories and shared an emotional note, saying, “Have been numb, at a loss of words since the time I have seen the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families.”

Abir Gulaal stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan alongside Vaani and their film is embroiled in controversy due to the strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan. Social media users have slammed Vaani for continuing to promote Abir Gulaal and called it ‘insensitive’.

“Shame on these low life people who dance on people’s grave,” wrote one user, while other said, “You betrayed our nation, Vaani.” Abir Gulaal has been facing various controversies prior to its release. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has been opposing film screening in the state. They have warned that it would not allow the release of any project which features Pakistani actors.

On the work front, Fawad was earlier seen in Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Post that, he didn’t feature in Bollywood projects for years due to increasing political tensions.
