Emmerdale fans are convinced that Kim Tate has a “master plan” in motion as she appears to have taken everyone, including Joe Tate, under her wing.

Claire King first joined Emmerdale in 1989 as Kim Tate before briefly exiting her role in 1999. She returned in 2018 and has stayed in her Home Farm empire ever since.

In recent years, she’s opened her home to Gabby and her son Thomas, as well as Dawn Fletcher and her husband Billy plus the children after the sudden death of Will Taylor.

She was surprised to “welcome” Joe Tate back to the village after he appeared as the puppet master behind Will’s revenge plan before his heart attack.

However, things have hardly been plain sailing for Kim and she was determined to dig up some dirt on Joe, not trusting that he’s returned to get closer to his distant family.

After planting Joe’s room with a recording device hoping to catch him in the act, Kim accidentally uncovered his passionate affair with Dawn. Although she confronted them both, attempting to put an end to their relationship, Dawn revealed she had fallen for him and wanted to leave Billy for good.

With their relationship a secret while Dawn attempts to make a clean break from Billy without anyone – especially the kids – getting hurt, Kim seems to have sided with Joe in order to keep the peace with the Dingles.

Some viewers, however, think that Kim’s attempt to bring the “family” together is to cover her hidden agenda, as fans say the “old Kim” is back.

During her time as Kim, Claire King has had her fair share of iconic storylines, including in 1997 when Kim faked her own death to frame Frank for her murder. After he was released from prison, Kim showed up on his doorstep leading the couple to argue, and thus Frank suffered from a heart attack that ended up killing him.

Kim was then seen pulling out her compact mirror and holding it up to Frank’s mouth to check he was breathing before using it to check her makeup.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @Chris1968E wrote: “of course Kim isn’t serious about Caleb she’s playing them” as @mikepriestley13 added: “I’m loving the old Kim is coming back”

Another viewer @TonyCoffey15 penned: “Please tell me Kim is somehow setting up kidney Joe, and is not really trying to be nice to him, and when did she get so big on family” and @adelebishop theorised: “Maybe it’s in part the link to the kids as I think Kim absolutely loves being a Granny, even if they’re not strictly related.

“So keeping Dawn close means keeping the kids at Home Farm. Even it ends up shared custody, depending on what happens with Dawn/Billy.”

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
