The Gen Z women swearing off sex in favour of voluntary celibacy

For many women, going celibate has a transformative effect on their lives. “I started pouring the energy I had often wasted on worrying about sex and romance into friendships and family. I made new friends and deepened already existing friendships,” writes author Shon Faye, who swore off sex and dating for a year. One of the most prominent voluntary celibates is actress Julia Fox, who famously dated Kanye West. She described sex as “always a headache one way or another” on Zach Sang’s podcast, and waxed lyrical about writing it off. “I’ve really truly never been better,” she said with a beatific smile. “My p***y smells of roses, I haven’t had BV, I haven’t had a yeast infection, I haven’t had any of the issues that come with having sex with men.”
